One Non-Profit helping another
Friday, July 16, 2010 at 03:06PM Birmingham- In a recent interview, Karen Peterlin, Executive Director of Kid One Transport, stated, "We're going to come up with good fundraisers and we're going to come up with new projects. But we also hope there's someone in the community who sees our need and smiles on us."
Peterlin's comment was in response to a question about the news that Kid One Transport had lost its entire $70,000 allotment from the city of Birmingham.
Responding to her plea, Sarrell Dental, a nonprofit that provides needed access to comprehensive dental and eye care to underserved children, has offered to match any donation made to Kid One Transport from July 9th, 2010 to July 16th 2010 up to $5,000.
"We serve the same patients and clientele that they do and we really understand the need for what they do. A lot of our patients have transportation issues and can't make it to the dentist," says Brandi Parris, Sarrell Dental Group marketing director.
Sarrell Dental's support could bring in over $10,000 for Kid One. Kid One and Sarrell Dental are relying on the community at large to make this a success. Donations can be made in person or mailed directly to the Kid One office at 3535 7th Ct. S Birmingham AL 35222 or made online at www.kidone.org. Donations will also be accepted by mail through P.O. Box 360943 / Birmingham, AL 35236.
Proceeds from this donor drive will help Kid One to continue providing transportation to children and expectant mothers in need of access to basic and critical health care services, including annual check-ups, behavioral counseling, pediatric dialysis, chemotherapy, physical therapy, dental screenings, prenatal care, and many others in Birmingham.
