Abuse Policy
Kid One Transport is focused on fulfilling our mission as effectively and efficiently as possible. We are able to provide this service due to the financial support of the communities we serve and we must be good stewards of this support. Therefore, implementing an abuse policy and enforcing accountability is necessary to ensure the mission is accomplished in the best way possible.
If it is determined that a client is abusing our service, they may be ineligible to participate in the program.
If abuse is discovered, the client may be notified verbally at the time of the last occurrence, to be followed by written notification. Written notification will be sent within 48 business hours. If opportunity allows, a copy of the written notification will be sent to all parties involved with the scheduling of the client’s appointments (i.e., social workers, nursing staff, case workers, service coordinators, etc.).
Should a dispute occur, management will review the case and make exceptions or reverse suspension of services if all information is verifiable and the client has made every effort in the defense of their claim.
The following are definitions of abuse:
- Late Cancellations – A cancellation made three (3) days or less from the appointment time is considered late. A client that has a record of three (3) late cancellations in a thirty (30) day period or develops a pattern of cancellations without valid and verifiable justification will be suspended for a period of up to six (6) months.
- No Shows – When the client is not at the designated pick-up location, they are considered a “no show.” A client that has a record of three (3) no shows in a thirty (30) day period or develops a pattern of cancellations without valid and verifiable justification will be suspended for a period of up to six (6) months.
- Improper Conduct – There will be zero tolerance regarding conduct such as physical and verbal abuse, profanity, drug and alcohol abuse, and harassment of any kind.
- Illegal Items – No illegal drugs or paraphernalia, firearms, or weapons of any kind will be allowed in the van.
- Supervision – All clients under the age of 19 must be accompanied by a responsible adult over 19 years of age to participate with Kid One.
- Availability of Vehicle – Report of a vehicle(s) at a client’s residence will first be investigated by a member of the Kid One staff. If evidence is found not supporting a valid explanation of the vehicle (i.e. current tag, someone is seen driving the vehicle, etc.), the client and all other previously qualified family members will no longer be eligible for Kid One services. All incidents will be reviewed by management.
- Misuse of Services – Any misuse of transportation services will not be tolerated. Some examples include appointments scheduled for non-qualifying family members, non-existing or non-verifiable appointments, or scheduling/leaving appointments to conduct non-medical related business (i.e. shopping).
Any violation of the above policies will result in immediate suspension of termination of Kid One services.
Suspected cases of abuse should be reported immediately by contacting our office at 205.978.1003.
